Oliver J. Lyon

Since a very young age, Oliver has had a passion for photography, cameras and the great outdoors. Whether mountain biking, wild camping, fishing or kite surfing there is a way of documenting the moments visually.

Oliver grew up in the picturesque city of Bath and studied Geology at the University of Birmingham.  Moving straight into the Oil & Gas sector from university he started a 12-year period of working in various regions of the world.

Oliver fell in love with Africa where he and his wife spent 7 years living and travelling to the various corners of this stunning continent.  His curiosity for the vast and incredible landscapes provided the perfect opportunity to develop his photographic skills, whilst trying to document surroundings difficult to describe to people who have not visited the continent.

Oliver and his family have now settled in Speyside, Scotland, where he combines business, family, outdoor activities, and photography into one lifestyle.

Oliver has a love for documenting the scenery and spaces around him but also a deep understanding that capturing the image is just the first hurdle. Correct processing, complex preparation, and finally skilful printing of the image is just but a few of the steps to the final physical result of the hours - days - weeks spent in the field capturing the image.

All of my images are printed on 310gsm Canson Infinity PrintMaKing mould-made traditional printmaking paper, the finest archival quality acid free fine art media available today. Printing is carried out on a state-of-the-art Epson inkjet printer with Epson Ultrachrome 10 ink. All of my prints have an estimated longevity of over 150 years – as long as it is stored correctly and kept behind glass.

Here is to many more trips into the amazing places that surround us all, and our attempt to capture the beauty we all see every day.
